Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer at Lyric you will work closely with Lyric's highly experienced microchip design engineers as well as with Lyric’s applied math group to create a new paradigm in computation. Some of Lyric's recent projects have involved cloud computing, machine learning, DSP, linear algebra, and programming language design. As a software engineer you'll tackle challenging, novel software design challenges, and work with just about every other engineer at Lyric. As the team grows, you will have the opportunity to take an increasing leadership role in the company.

Job Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to develop software tools to aid in the design of Lyric's microchips as well as software tools to aid in the design of mathematical algorithms. You will participate in requirements gathering, prototyping, architectural decisions, coding, debugging, and maintenance. You will need to be flexible and willing to explore many technologies, languages, and mathematical ideas. Because you will be working closely with most of the other engineers at Lyric, you will need to be an excellent communicator.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s CS or EECS +10 years as software architect and programmer or equivalent.
• Mastery in one or more of the following tools of the trade: Java, C/C++, Python, MATLAB with strong OO skills.
• A solid grounding in computer science, with strong competencies in software design, algorithms and data structures.
• An expert at prototyping ideas quickly and a willingness and desire to explore new technologies.
• Solid problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a self-directed mode.
• Expert knowledge of the full development cycle: requirements, prototyping, architecture, coding, debugging, testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• US citizenship or Visa required.

Desired Competencies

• Understanding of analog/digital hardware.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, MATLAB, C++, Subversion, Trac, Objective-C, iPhone development, Networking, CUDA, and Cadence Skill.
• Understanding of probability, statistical inference, and linear algebra.
• Proficiency with Cadence tools.
• Knowledge of behavioral modeling with verilog and verilogAMS.
• Knowledge of Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
• Experience working in a startup environment.
• US Citizenship or Visa.

As a Senior Design Engineer at Lyric you will work closely with one of Lyric's very highly experienced Design Engineers as well as with Lyric’s applied math group to create a new paradigm in computation. As your design team grows, you will have the opportunity to take an increasing leadership role in your team and in the company.

Job Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to help design analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks. You will participate in architectural decisions and design reviews. You will be responsible for IC simulation and transistor-level design of analog blocks such as sample and hold, multipliers and mixers. Your responsibilities will include design, simulation, verification, physical design, bench testing, and support of IC test.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD +3 or MSEE +10 years of mixed-signal IC design
  • Experience with design, simulation, and layout of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits
  • Experience with CMOS transistor-level circuit design
  • Solid understanding of CMOS device physics High level of mathematical/algorithm sophistication
  • Proven track record of successful product development
  • Ability to program as needed
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Solid problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Enjoy tinkering, taking things apart, and making things work
  • Ability to ask good questions

Desired Competencies

  • Proficiency with Cadence tools
  • Behavioral modeling with verilogAMS
  • Experience with MATLAB simulation

Lab Engineer / Lab Technician

As a Lab Engineer at Lyric you will work closely with Lyric's highly experienced Design Engineers to help test and qualify a new paradigm in computation.

Job Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to help with bench testing and simulation. You will:

• Setup test and measurement instrumentation
• Design test boards and eval boards for IC’s
• Automate and run experiments on large numbers of IC's
• Help debug IC’s and test setup
• Run lab, order equipment and supplies

Minimum Qualifications

• BSEE +5 years of mixed-signal IC test
• Experience with C/C++, Matlab/Simulink/Mex, Labview, Java
• Familiarity with digital timing diagrams
• Familiarity with analog hardware
• Ability to follow specs and achieve high performance requirements
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Solid problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
• Enjoy tinkering, taking things apart, and making things work
• Ability to ask good questions

Your primary responsibility will be to innovate, patent, and publish research relating to signal processing, optimization, statistical inference, communications, robust control, numerical methods, abstract algebra, and statistical physics.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in Math, Applied Math or EECS
• Journal quality publications
• Deep understanding and research experience in applied mathematics including signal processing, optimization, statistical inference, communications, numerical methods, abstract algebra, and robust control
• Strength in CS including compiler design, language design, randomized algorithms, data structures
• Ability and desire to write code and run simulations to test hypotheses
• Comfort with Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, SPICE, Verilog, System C, and any other programming language you encounter
• Ability to guide research by proving analytical bounds
• Comfort with physics including statistical physics and semiconductor device physics
• Careful attention to mathematical detail and precision
• High level of creativity
• Aggressive pursuit of research results
• Impeccable written and verbal communications skills
• You have physical intuition gained by having directly built or repaired things
